A52 westbound: Crash causing problems just before Spondon

Car lands on side after crash near Dorchester
This is Dorset -- A car landed on its side after a crash at Puddletown. Firefighters from Dorchester were called to the scene near Waterston Manor at around 3:30pm yesterday. A female casualty was removed from the vehicle before the arrival of emergency services.

Motorist hurt in Saxby crash, near Melton
This is Leicestershire -- A motorist has been treated in hospital for injuries sustained in a car crash. Crews from Melton fire station were called to assist paramedics dealing with a woman hurt in the crash near Saxby, east of Melton. It happened in Wymondham Road, close to its junction with the B676, yesterday. A fire service spokeswoman said: "We got the call at 12.40pm, with initial reports suggesting the woman was trapped inside the vehicle. "It turned out paramedics had been unsure about moving her due to her injuries, but in the end she was able to walk with help to a waiting ambulance." The casualty was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre. It is not known how badly she was hurt. Fire control received a stop message from crews at 1.10pm.

Baglan mum who survived horror crash with baby still in recovery
This is South Wales -- A MUM who survived a devastating crash along with her two-month-old baby says she will be never be able to completely recover from the horrific incident. Deborah Dowrick was walking with her two-month-old baby, Elijah, and the family dog when the accident occurred in March last year. They were badly hurt in a collision with a black Mercedes on Dinas Baglan Road in Port Talbot near its junction with Smallwood Road, at around 2.35pm. Miss Dowrick from Baglan, suffered horrendous injuries — including 19 broken ribs, a broken arm, shoulder and pelvis, and punctured lungs and a lacerated liver — and was airlifted to hospital along with her newborn son. Elijah was later transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for specialist treatment. "I was extremely lucky," she said. "It has been life changing. It has caused an extreme amount of stress on my family. "Elijah was in hospital for five weeks. "Lucky for me I have been able to recover. But I will never be 100 per cent." The 42-year-old said she didn't want anyone to go through what she had experienced, and has issued a warning to drivers to consider the consequences. "People do need to think before they get in their cars and drive, they should think about all the ramifications if something happened," she said. "I still see people on their mobile phones. People just don't think how lethal a car is. "It is hard for me as I am still living with the result. "It is going to be with me for forever and a day." Miss Dowrick said she was shocked with the prison sentence, Silvester-Hughes was given. "I just want a fair punishment for the crime," she said. "I just don't want it happening to anyone else. "She should not have been driving that day. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time." Miss Dowrick, who works for Swansea Council, added that she wanted to thank all health professionals that looked after her and Elijah. "We had exceptional treatment from the NHS," she said. "They really pulled out all the stops "They do deserve credit. It is the only reason I am here today because of the support and help from Morriston Hospital and the Heath." In June last year, friends Helen Enser Morgan and Loraine King, of Bjorn Belief Abba girls fame, organised a Deb and Eli's Big Night Out at Baglan Community Church. Funds raised went to Wales Air Ambulance.

Woman taken to hospital following Lockington crash, near A50
This is Leicestershire -- A woman was taken to hospital after losing control of her car on a rural road shortly after exiting a dual carriageway. The crash took place in Main Street, Lockington, on the approach to the village from the A50 and junction 24 of the M1. Emergency services were called to the scene at just before 11am yesterday. A fire service spokeswoman said: "Crews from Loughborough and Long Eaton stations attended the incident. "They had to free the casualty from the vehicle, although no cutting gear was necessary." She said the woman was then taken by ambulance to the Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham. The extent of her injuries are not known. Firefighters made the scene safe and sent a stop message to control at 11.37am. The incident was left with the police.
