This is Croydon -- A 66-YEAR-OLD man has been taken to hospital after being seriously injured in a car crash in the town centre. According to London Fire Brigade, whose staff attended the scene, no other vehicles were involved in the crash in Wellesley Road, which occurred at 4pm this afternoon (Thursday). The man had been pulled from the wreckage by a passerby before emergency crews arrived. London Ambulance Service sent a paramedic on a motorcycle and an ambulance crew to the scene. Their staff treated the man for a head injury before taking him to St George's Hospital, in Tooting, "as a priority". Wellesley Road is partially blocked following the collision as police retrieve the vehicle and some bus routes are being diverted.
