![19-week pregnant woman involved in Barnstaple crash]()
This is North Devon -- A WOMAN who was 19-weeks pregnant was involved in a crash caused by a Holsworthy man's driving, a court has heard. Jonathan Wills, 26, of Ford Crescent in Bradford, near Holsworthy, appeared in front of North Devon magistrates charged with using a car without insurance and driving without due care and attention. The court heard the crash happened at around 9.10am on the A3125 on August 3 while Wills was travelling towards the A39. A witness claims to have seen him lose control of the car several times before colliding with a Peugeot 307, causing extensive damage to both cars. It was later discovered Wills had no insurance as he thought he was covered by a trader's policy which had in fact expired. Magistrates were told Wills was "mortified" to find himself before the court and had done what he could to make amends including writing a letter of apology and sending flowers to the woman. Wills had only purchased the Honda he was driving a week before the crash and it was a rear wheel drive which he was not used to. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined £320 in total along with a £33 victim surcharge, costs of £85 and compensation of £300. His licence was also endorsed with six penalty points.
