This is Derbyshire -- A WOMAN killed in a three-car smash on the A52 has been named by police. Hamida Ali, 49, died and five others were injured in the crash on the A52, at Brailsford, in the early hours of Saturday. An inquest into her death is due to be opened today. The incident,which happened in Painters Lane, near the junction with Derby Lane, at 1am, involved a blue Mini Cooper, a Green Land Rover Freelander and a red Toyota Corolla. One driver was taken to hospital for an operation on his leg. Residents living on Painters Lane saw the aftermath of the crash, including David and Irene Longstaff. They said that the red car was on its roof and the junction could not be seen because of the number of fire engines, police cars and ambulances which were there. The inquest will open today at Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner's Court. Derbyshire police are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information can call 101.
