The identities of two young men killed in an horrific crash in West Cornwall on Sunday night may not be formally released until next week.
Police confirmed that the men who died when their car hit a lorry on the A30 at Crowlas, near Penzance, were from the local area.
In a statement issued yesterday, police said formal identification procedures were under way and that the men's names would be released when their families were known to have been informed.
However, the pair were named on social media sites and in floral tributes at the scene of the accident as Lee "Fattz"Harrington and "Caveman".
Tributes placed on Facebook included: "RIP Caveman and Fat Boy. Going to be missed dearly. In tears reading this, forever in the hearts of so many. Caveman x – Chelsea Catlow," and "Heaven, yet again, gains two very special boys gone far, far too soon, all our love and wishes to you all xxxx – Mand Griffey."
The pair were driving in a silver Citroën Saxo, which burst into flames after being in collision with a lorry at about 9.50pm in Sunday. The driver of the lorry escaped with cuts and bruises. Reported by This is 12 hours ago.
