![Motorcyclist airlifted after Chelmsford crash in New London Road]()
This is Essex -- A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after colliding with a car in New London Road, Chelmsford. The man pulled out of Anchor Street into New London Road when he was struck by a black car at about 2.45pm. The road was quickly closed between junctions with Queens Street and New Writtle Street as Essex Police's Serious Collision Investigation unit arrived to examine the scene. The man was airlifted to a London Hospital with his injuries not thought to be life-threatening. Officer in charge of the investigation Rob Andrews told the Chronicle at the scene at this stage it was not clear if the man's injuries were life-changing. "As far as we know, it's been reported that the motorcyclist drove out of Anchor Street into New London Road in the way of the car," said Pc Andrews. "No other vehicles were involved. "At this stage his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
He said the stretch of road should be open by 4.45pm. Mark Craven, 29, was leaving his parents' house in Queen Street when he walked into the immediate aftermath of the crash. "We arrived in time to see the air ambulance land in a car park near the Virgin Active gym," said Mr Craven. "It looked very serious because the paramedics were dealing with him and he had not moved at all." There are currently no third-party witnesses to the scene.
